MUSCAT, JULY 2
The Oman Under-17 football team reported back to the domestic training sessions after an absence of more than a month since their last presence in the abroad camp in Uzbekistan last May. The national team boys, coached by the experienced national coach Anwar al Habsi, began their internal warm up sessions on Monday evening at the Royal Court Affairs in Al Khoudh to hone their skills and foster team cohesion.
The six-day domestic gathering will feature a comprehensive schedule of sessions dedicated to enhancing the team's physical, technical, and tactical abilities. The players will be engaged in rigorous physical conditioning to boost their stamina, strength, and overall fitness level beside implementing some development of strategic gameplay.
The current warm up gathering is part of team’s preparations for the next assignment which is taking part in the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers. Oman team grouped with Tajikistan, Guam and the hosts Singapore in Group J for the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers. The qualifiers will be played from October 19 to 27. The ten group winners and five best second placed teams will advance to the finals accompanied by the hosts Saudi Arabia during April 3-20, 2025.
Oman will commence their campaign in the Asian qualifiers with a match against the hosts Singapore on October 23 before meeting Guam in a key match on October 25. Then, the national team boys will conclude their group matches with an essential game against Tajikistan who is ranked as the top seed team in the group. Oman team will aim to secure the Asian ticket and attend the Asian meet for the 11th time in history.
In a previous comment to Oman Observer, Coach Anwar al Habsi, said that the national team was handed in an equal group. “ The group featured teams with different varying technical levels including Tajikistan team which considered as the top team in the group order. It is one of the top developed Asian teams. The national team is moving on a proper preparatory plan ahead of the Asian qualification challenge. The warm-up plan will feature two domestic camps in July and then an abroad camp. Later, the team will take part in the West Asian Championship in August and it will be followed by Arab Football Championship in September,” he said
