SALALAH: Tucked away in a part of khareef-bound Dhofar Governorate, Wadi Darbat unfolds its beauty just east of Wilayat of Taqah. This verdant valley winds its way through the landscape, culminating in a meeting with Khor Rori and the Arabian Sea.
Wadi Darbat stuns visitors with its breathtaking scenery. A verdant carpet of diverse trees and shrubs unfolds, dominated by towering sidr trees. Freshwater springs bubble up from the earth, feeding sparkling lakes and waterways that weave through the valley.
Following heavy rains, a seasonal waterfall bursts forth, cascading down 100 metres and adding a touch of magic to the valley. During the khareef, Wadi Darbat transforms into a captivating masterpiece. Rainwater spills from the mountains, forming picturesque waterfalls that plunge from impressive heights.
Wadi Darbat boasts not only dense vegetation and pristine surroundings but also a natural spring and hidden caves. Studies suggest that the water-filled chambers of Teeq Cave are fed by the valley's own waters.
For an optimal experience, plan your visit to Wadi Darbat between July and September. During these months, mild weather prevails, allowing you to fully appreciate the valley's splendour. The cascading waters of Wadi Darbat, also known as 'Jaafar,' are a major tourist draw. Visitors flock to witness the waterfall's beauty, especially when it connects with Khor Rori and the historic port of Samharam.
Wadi Darbat offers a unique experience, combining stunning scenery, seasonal waterfalls, and rich biodiversity. It's a perfect haven for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.
Overlooking the scenic setting, Darbat Cabins has unveiled its revamped design for the 2024 season.
Founder Said al Maashani says, “We are delighted to announce the opening of nine new cabins at our project in the coming days. These new cabins are designed to suit all budgets and offer stunning views of Darbat Lake, making them an ideal retreat for relaxation and enjoying the scenic beauty.”
He further added: "While we've maintained the stunning waterfront location, we've broadened our offerings to welcome a wider range of guests."
Inspiration for the Darbat Cabins came from the project founder’s extensive travels. "My journeys across many countries exposed me to a wealth of ideas and cultures," he explained. "The concept of cozy cottages lining a beautiful waterfront perfectly suited a destination like Darbat, so I decided to bring that vision to life here."
Al Maashani expressed his appreciation to Dhofar's government departments for their support in launching this project.
