SALALAH: Various mountainous regions in the Dhofar Governorate witnessed light drizzle showers during the late night hours, accompanied by dense fog that blanketed the highlands, creating a tranquil and temperate atmosphere far from the scorching summer heat that dominates most parts of the Arabian Peninsula.
The occurrence of drizzle and fog is a natural phenomenon common during the Khareef season in the Dhofar Governorate. The region is characterized by its exposure to seasonal winds blowing from the Indian Ocean, carrying high humidity and thick clouds, leading to scattered rainfall and fog formation on mountain peaks.
These natural phenomena add a special touch of beauty to the Dhofar Mountains, making them a preferred tourist destination for many during the Khareef season to enjoy their refreshing atmosphere and captivating natural beauty.
Light drizzle and fog are expected to continue over the Dhofar Mountains in the coming days, with the possibility of heavy rains in some areas.
