MUSCAT: Most of the governorates of the Sultanate are to experience cloudy skies over them with chances of occasional rains while temperatures will slightly vary for better, according to the National Early Warning Center at the General Directorate of Meteorology.
While humidity will be a tad high, temperatures will remain the same except for a few hours or so, according to the National Early Warning System at the General Directorate of Meteorology.
While the capital city is to experience advective, high and medium clouds from the Arabian Sea over it, the Hajjar Mountains will get convective clouds accompanied by thundershowers, and Dhofar region is experiencing the monsoon, cloudy skies, with occasional drizzles during the Khareef.
The Governorates of Al Wusta and South Al Sharqiya except Musandam, North Al Batinah, and Al Buraimi, will get advective clouds, as the majority of places across Oman are to feel the advection of clouds these days. However, there are chances of light rains over south Sharqiya, and Al Wusta where the clouds would be low with chances of light rains as well.
“Humidity will go high during the next two days and temperatures will be less over these governorates for the next few days, otherwise there wouldn't be any change in temperatures for an extended period,” said Nasser al Ismaili, Director of Forecasting, and National Early Warning System at the DG of Meteorology.
Speaking to Observer Al Ismaili said that what is being circulated through a section of social media regarding postponement of examinations at some schools is wrong and no exams need to be postponed.
“With reference to the Ministry’s follow up to what is being circulated on social media about the weather situation in the Arabian Sea in the coming days, and based on the testimony of meteorologists at the National Early Warning Center of the multiple risks, which confirm that most forecasts indicate that the effects are limited to the presence of cloud cover, there will not be any change in the conducting of exams at various schools,” he said.
He further said that with the possibility of the presence of local formations that do not exceed light sprays (if they occur), which does not affect the conduct of the examination process for students of general education diploma certificates, or the process of grading the examinations, or the second round examinations, which does not require taking any exceptional measures towards these the condition.
The concerned Ministry is reassuring all educational bodies, students, and their parents that it is continuously following up on any new updates regarding this situation with the concerned authorities in the Sultanate of Oman.
However, by Monday and Tuesday, Oman will experience fresh winds with chances of blowing dust over the deserts and in open areas of Dhofar, Al Wusta, parts of Al Dhakhiliya, and North and South Al Sharqiyah and parts of Dhahira.
