Engineer Abdullah bin Salem Al Hakamani, Director of the Technical Affairs Department at the Special Economic Zone in Duqm, told Oman News Agency (ONA) about the ongoing investments exceeding two million Omani riyals in tourism projects. These initiatives encompass vital infrastructure enhancements such as upgraded roads, expanded utilities, and modern drainage systems.
Notably, plans include a dual coastal road to facilitate access to the multi-purpose fishing port and a redesigned tourist area aligned with contemporary urban planning principles. With over 20 hotel facilities planned or operational, Duqm is poised to accommodate a growing influx of visitors.
There are more than 2,500 rooms provided by the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, and they vary between one- and four-star hotels, luxury hotel apartments, regular hotel apartments, and residential units.
As Duqm gears up for increased autumn tourism, efforts are underway to enhance visitor experiences through improved signage, accommodations, and recreational facilities.
