SALALAH: The 2nd Youth Projects Forum commenced yesterday, June 27, at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah. Organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Dhofar, it featured a distinguished group of young innovators from various sectors.
Held under the patronage of Ahmed bin Saeed al Hashimi, Regional Manager of the Development Bank in Dhofar Governorate, the forum aims to empower young entrepreneurs in the region. It provides a platform for them to showcase their projects and connect with potential investors and mentors.
In opening remarks, Ghazi bin Said al Hamar of OCCI Dhofar Branch, emphasized the pivotal role of youth as the true wealth and future of society. He praised the diligent efforts of the government in promoting comprehensive youth development, ensuring their needs, interests, and aspirations are met. Al-Hamar highlighted the significance of the second edition of the forum in alignment with the Chamber's strategic goals to enhance the business environment and expand economic diversification under Oman Vision 2040.
The forum provides a platform for young entrepreneurs and innovators to contribute to the national economy through their energy and innovations, particularly in the small, medium, and emerging enterprises sector. Al-Hamar underscored the importance of fostering relationships between youth projects and various stakeholders, as evidenced by the accompanying exhibition showcasing youth achievements.
Expressing optimism, Al Hamar urged all stakeholders to empower youth projects, enabling them to effectively contribute to national development, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry reaffirms its commitment as a supporter, encourager, and promoter of initiatives fostering sustainable economic development aligned with Oman's ambitious vision.
Aligning with Oman Vision 2040's focus on fostering youth entrepreneurship and economic diversification, the forum includes presentations from young entrepreneurs, networking opportunities, and insights from industry experts.
The forum showcased successful youth experiences, featuring a group of creative young individuals sharing inspiring stories. Among the speakers were representatives from various sectors, including events and marketing, interior and architectural design, tourism and investment, a YouTuber and wildlife photographer, trading, and heritage preservation.
Three workshops were also held, covering vital topics for youth projects. The first workshop focused on financing and sources of domestic and foreign funding for small and medium-sized enterprises. The second workshop discussed networking and communication in entrepreneurial projects. The third workshop addressed achieving sustainability for youth projects.
The event concluded with an honorary ceremony for the event's sponsor, followed by the opening of the accompanying exhibition where young people showcased their products and innovative ideas.
