Muscat: The Omani rider HH Sayyid Ali bin Ghalib al Said succeeded in obtaining the qualification card for the finals of World Endurance Cup, which is scheduled to be held in the French city of Monpazier, for a distance of 160 km during this year.


HH Sayyid Ali was able to pass all stages and stations of the races qualifying for the finals in his first participation.


The last qualifying station was Samorin race in Slovakia for a distance of 160 km. He was able to successfully pass the five stages, 35 km was the first stage, the same in the second stage, 40 km in the third stage, 25 km in the fourth stage, and 25 km in the fifth and final stage. The races were characterised by difficulty and fluctuating weather conditions.


Recently five of the Royal Cavalry riders succeeded in obtaining qualification cards for the upcoming World Endurance Cup finals. HH Sayyid Ali bin Ghalib al Said is the only rider from private stables to obtain the award qualification card.


He passed all races with all success despite his new entry into the endurance racing with his brother, HH Sayyid Louay bin Ghalib al Said, who has one race left in order to reach the World Cup finals.


The jockey began his journey in 2022 to prepare for his presence in the World Endurance Cup finals. He went through a number of training programmes, and participated in a number of stations. He started in the Buch race in Germany, for a distance of 140 km. Then he moved to the second race, for a distance of 140 km, over two days, 70 km for each day, in the German city of Buch. And then he ran the third race in Slovakia, for a distance of 120 km, during which he rode the horses 'Evala' and 'Attila'.


The International Equestrian Federation has set a number of requirements to qualify for the World Cup finals, which are the rider have to pass a number of specific races with a star classification and at different distances with one or several horses. The International Federation seeks to find an easy path in order to obtain qualifying cards.
