Council of Ministers, Shura Council's Office hold joint meeting

Muscat: In the presence of members of the Council of Ministers, HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, on Tuesday received Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, and members of the Shura Council’s Office.


The meeting took place within the context of coordination between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman.



The two sides held a meeting within the framework of the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman. The meeting constituted strong support for integration among all institutions of the state. It also underscored the importance of reaching common visions that lead to promoting economic and social aspects.


Out the outset of the meeting, HH Sayyid Fahd commended the role undertaken by the Shura Council and its cooperation with the government for sustaining efforts to implement the general policies of the state and upholding the country’s supreme interest.



HH Sayyid Fahd spoke about various matters of relevance to consolidating cooperation between the two councils. He affirmed that the Council of Ministers accords full attention to the views of the Council of Oman that target support for efforts undertaken by government units in realizing all that serves the nation and the citizens.


The meeting also laid emphasis on the role of the Shura Council in accomplishing the missions entrusted to it. Pursuant to this approach, service ministers respond to the Shura Council’s requests to present ministerial statements and visual presentations that explain the government’s efforts to provide the highest rates of performance in all sectors.



The meeting also touched on the significance of the Shura Council’s hosting government officials to discuss topics being considered by its committees. It elaborated on the extent to which the two sides deal positively with those proposals and integrate their outcome in development plans and programmes.


The meeting reviewed other topics, including support for cooperation with the government, as well as means to enhance awareness in a manner that reflects the true image of joint national action.


The meeting also underlined the role of the joint ministerial coordination committee (between the Council of Ministers and the Shura Council) in achieving the desired goals.



For their part, the Chairman of the Shura Council and members of the Council’s Office commended the importance of the meeting with the Council of Ministers. They spoke about a number of aspects that realize more cooperation between the two sides. They also expressed thanks to Oman's government and leadership for their valuable support towards constructive cooperation between the two councils.


The Chairman of the Shura Council and members of the Shura Council’s Office stressed that discussions that took place during the meeting would consolidate efforts to preserve the gains of Oman in its quest to achieve further progress and prosperity.
