MUSCAT: Royal Cavalry Knight Hussein bin Ali al Farsi passed the stages of the French Compile Race organised by the International Equestrian Federation.

The race was held for a distance of 140 km, among male and female knights from various countries on Saturday.

Al Farsi previously passed the stages of the French Saumur Race, which was organised by the International Equestrian Federation for a distance of 160 km. As a result, rider Hussein al Farsi will qualify for the World Endurance Cup Championship, which will be held next September in France.

Also, five of Royal Cavalry riders have qualified for the World Endurance Cup France 2024, who will represent the Sultanate of Oman during the next World Cup.

Rider Mahmoud bin Marhoon al Fawri qualified on the horse back 'Dalila', rider Hesham bin Saleh al Farsi on the horse back 'Belxima', rider Ahmed bin Salem al Hamdani on horse back 'Kasbah' and jockey Saleh bin Salem al Balushi on horse back 'Astiq'.

With this qualification, Dr Sarhan bin Salem al Zaidi, Director-General of the Royal Cavalry, said: “Qualifying for the World Endurance Cup in France 2024 is an achievement added to the successive achievements of the Royal Cavalry at the international level, which came with the high interest and continuous support of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and the sound directives from HE Nasr bin Hamoud al Kindi, Secretary-General of Royal Court Affairs.

This is also in addition to plan and goals drawn up by the specialists of the Royal Cavalry to ensure qualification and competition in the upcoming World Endurance Cup in France 2024, where the Royal Cavalry will have the honour of representing Oman in this global forum.

Al Zaidi explained that, "the work plan for qualifying was launched after the World Endurance Cup Abu Dhabi 2023 competitions, which included participation and competition with a group of riders and horses in a number of international races organised by the International Equestrian Federation in various countries of the world, where the riders participated in several qualifying races. This was made possible due to the hard work of the riders and the technical and administrative staff."
