Muscat: The Marsa team was crowned the champion of the Strike Oman 3x3 Basketball Tournament after defeating Free Palestine team with a score of 16-15. The tournament, which included 8 teams, was organized by Oman Basketball Association, represented by the 3x3 Basketball Committee. The event was held at the Strike Oman Hall at the Oman Automobile Association.
The teams were divided into groups and the tournament was played in a single round-robin format followed by a knockout stage, the top two from each group were qualified for the knockout stage, the winners played for the title, and the losers played for third place.
After the conclusion, Eng Khalfan al Naabi, President of the Oman Basketball Association, crowned the winning teams. The results were as follows, Marsa team which consisting of Saeed al Saadi, Mahmoud al Suli, and Bassam al Busaidi received gold medals and a financial prize. Free Palestine team, consisting of Osama al Riyami, Rashid al Zahaibi, Ayman al Mahrami, and Suhail al Busaidi, won silver medals.While PBL team won bronze medals.
Eng Khalfan Al Naabi, expressed his admiration for the high technical levels displayed during the 3x3 basketball championship matches during the summer of 2024 season. Al Naabi praised the exciting and fair competition witnessed in the championships, which resulted in the victory of club teams and national teams in the first and second places.
Al Naabi stressed that these tournaments provide real opportunities for competition and friction between players, and contribute to their continued giving and development of their levels. He revealed that the association organized seven 3x3 basketball championships during the current year, to spread the game and provide a suitable environment for players to practice the game continuously during the league break.
