MUSCAT: Oman suffered a second defeat in its match against Chinese Taipei in the group stage of the Junior Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Cup in Singapore.
The match started with no goals scored in the opening minutes of the first quarter until Chinese Taipei was able to score the first goal in the 13th minute through Wei Cheng-Ze. At the beginning of the second quarter, both teams sought to provide a better performance, and Chinese Taipei succeeded in scoring the second goal in the 25th minute through Ho Kai-Heng. On the other hand, Oman’s players worked hard to advance and create several opportunities to score a goal to reduce the difference and return the score, but the opposing team prevented that, so the second quarter ended with Taiwan leading 2-0.
In the third quarter, Taiwan continued to dominate the game. Despite the major changes made by the national team coach, it did not result in any goals. Taiwan scored its third goal in the 32nd minute, through Chen Mu-Hung. Two minutes later, Oman scored its first goal from a penalty kick by Alhussin al Hasni. However, Taiwan quickly returned and scored two more goals through Chang Chun-Yu and Wei Cheng-Ze, ending the third quarter 5-1.
The result increased the difficulty of Oman's bounce back, and Chinese Taipei took advantage of the decline in the level of the Omani team's players to score another goal in the 57th minute through Wei Cheng-Ze, ending the match with a wide victory of 6-1. With this defeat, Oman's hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the tournament were dashed.
