MUSCAT: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, yesterday signed 14 usufruct contracts in the agricultural sector with an investment value exceeding RO 8.3 million.
The signed contracts relate to raising and marketing carnivorous poultry, cultivating frankincense, raising and marketing livestock, cultivating palm trees to produce dates and basur, manufacturing their waste, beekeeping, honey production, cultivation and production of wheat and coffee, establishing a farm to produce fig and fifa fruits and seedlings, tourism agriculture, and raising Saanian and Boer goats on a total area exceeding 850 acres.
These projects were distributed across several governorates, including the governorates of Dhofar, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, and Muscat.
The contracts were signed by Eng Hamad bin Ali al Nazwani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and representatives of companies and institutions investing in the projects. The signing of the contracts was attended by Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture, and a number of officials from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority. — ONA
