MUSCAT: The Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) held its third meeting of 2024 in Muscat, chaired by Shaikh Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Chairman of the Board.
During the meeting, the board reviewed the implementation measures of the Ministry of Economy's study results for establishing integrated industrial clusters in the Shaleem area for industrial minerals, the cold chain and food industries in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, and aluminium-based industries in the Sohar Free Zone, linking these industrial clusters with the industrial strategy.
The board also reviewed the developments of the Khazaen Economic City project, the progress rates, and the phases of implementing the basic infrastructure, roads, and water drainage channels for flood protection in Mahas Industrial City in the Wilayat of Khasab in the Musandam Governorate.
The meeting also discussed the implementation status of the visual identity of the Duqm Special Economic Zone, the provision of facilities, and the approval of incentives for projects that use modern construction techniques, in addition to several other topics related to the economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities under the authority's supervision. — ONA
