MISFAH: After a severe heatwave, the village of Al Misfah received a heavy share of rain.
The village of Al Misfah, which is located approximately 15 km from Qurayat, is surrounded by mountains on all sides. The ‘Black Mountain’ constitutes a natural habitat for dozens of species of plants, birds and wild animals.
This village is famous for its falaj, which diverts water from the eastern side to the western bank of the village for a distance of more than 5 km. The falaj was designed in an ingenious engineering manner that facilitates the crossing of water in unique water channels. This falaj feeds many agricultural lands in Mahyia and Abaya. On the western side of this village there is a spring called 'Al Faj'. This water spring contains mineral water with therapeutic value, as visitors come to it for treatment of some skin diseases.
Between the orchards of this village is located Al Bustan Fort and many ancient archaeological mosques, including Al Ghubra, Al Saram and Village. These sites represented centres of education and places where village residents used to meet, especially during religious and social occasions.
Locals in the village are interested in agriculture, as it is famous for growing the finest types of palm trees, namely Al Zabad, Al Khalas and Al Barni. Mango, olive, banana, fig and lemon trees also grow in the soil of this village, which are marketed daily in the local markets.
This village is visited by many tourists, especially since its lands have become fertile and full of water, and the Al Qhaid season, which is the season for harvesting local fruits, has begun since the middle of this month.
