DOHA: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MoTCIT), participated in the 26th meeting of the Executive Committee for E-Government in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on Wednesday, June 5, in Qatar.
The Omani delegation was headed by Eng. Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman al Kharousi, Director General of Digital Transformation and Sector Empowerment at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.
During the meeting, the committee discussed various topics on the agenda, including reviewing the General Secretariat's report on the implementation of the committee's decisions from its 25th meeting and initiatives related to the guiding strategy for e-government in the GCC countries. They also covered topics related to shared electronic services among GCC countries, initiatives related to artificial intelligence, and unified software procurement for the GCC countries.
Furthermore, the committee reviewed working papers submitted by member countries in the field of e-government and discussed the outcomes of Saudi Arabia hosting the 5th edition of the GCC Digital Government Award, which took place from December 19-20, 2023, in Riyadh. The meeting was attended by the heads of e-government authorities and programs in the GCC countries, alongside specialists from the GCC General Secretariat.
