MUSCAT: The Horeca Oman exhibition which began on June 4, Tuesday, as a significant annual event for the hospitality and food services sectors. Hosted at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, this premier event concludes today, June 6.
This year's exhibition promises to be more captivating than ever, featuring an array of activities including innovative competitions and interactive events tailored for industry specialists and enthusiasts. It boasts a diverse mix of over 200 local and international participants from 14 countries, covering an area of 5,000 square metres. The event is expected to draw between 7,000 and 8,000 visitors, highlighting its growing significance.
Organised by Hospitality Services Company and Tiger Expo Company, Horeca Oman offers a unique opportunity for business networking, exploring partnerships, and showcasing the latest advancements in hospitality and food industries. The exhibition also facilitates the exchange of ideas and technologies, underscoring its role as a vibrant hub for industry professionals.
Jumana Damous Salamah, General Manager of Hospitality Services, emphasised the cultural and professional exchange facilitated by the event, noting the participation of Guillaume Gomez, the French President’s representative for food and gastronomy. His involvement underscores the event's importance in fostering Omani-French relations in hospitality and culinary arts.
The exhibition includes a dynamic program with highlights such as a hospitality salon, barista and mocktail competitions, and a bed-making contest. The cooking competition, a key attraction, features teams competing under the scrutiny of internationally certified judges, with prizes including cash awards and opportunities to enter international contests like Top Chef.
Notable participants such as Oman Mills Company and Oman Fish Development are also showcasing their contributions to the food sector. Oman Mills is presenting products made from locally grown wheat, aiming for self-sufficiency and improved product quality.
Oman Fish Development is promoting its premium seafood products, enhancing the local and international seafood market.
The Oman Tourism College, the sole institution specialising in tourism and hospitality in Oman, is participating to highlight its educational contributions to the industry. College students are preparing meals at the exhibition, demonstrating their culinary skills.
Horeca Oman 2024 stands out as a leading event that not only showcases the latest in hospitality and food services but also strengthens economic and cultural ties within the region and beyond.
