According to the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, these incidents can be prevented by following regular maintenance procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
Fuel and oil leaks from the tank or pipes are among the primary causes of vehicle fires. These leaks can be extremely dangerous as friction or sparks from electrical wires can easily ignite the leaked fuel, leading to a fire. Increased pressure on internal engine parts also poses a significant risk.
Excessive loads and a lack of engine maintenance can cause high temperatures, which can result in fires.
Additionally, installing parts that do not meet safety specifications further increases the risk of vehicle fires. Non-compliant parts may not function properly under stress, leading to hazardous conditions.
High summer temperatures exacerbate the situation by affecting plastic components inside the vehicle. The intense heat can cause these components to deteriorate, increasing the likelihood of fires. Another critical factor is smoking inside the vehicle. Handling flammable materials or smoking can easily lead to fires, especially if proper precautions are not taken.
