Nasser al Rawahi to replace Hatim al Roushdi in Red Warriors squad

Muscat: The coaching staff of the national football team headed by the Czech coach Jaroslav Silhavy announced on Friday that Nasser al Rawahi will replace Hatim al Roushdi in the camp. The selection of Al Rawahi was due to Hatim’s suffering of lower abdominal pain. Hatim did some medical tests with the national team’s medical team and the results will appear very soon.


The Red Warriors players continued their evening training sessions on the last couple of days since the commencement of the domestic camp on Tuesday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. All the players who were opted for the preparatory camp joined in the sessions except Hatim al Roushdi who was suffering from body pain.

The national team is underway in their technical preparations for the next clash against Chinese Taipei which will take place on Thursday, in an away game for the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 Fifa World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup. The team will travel to Taipei on Monday to have some training in the main venue ahead of the game on Thursday.


During the practice sessions, the players executed all the instructions given by the coaching staff and they showed their top performance. The warm-up sessions started on Thursday by some stretching and physical exercises. Then, it was followed by focusing on some special technical and tactical training sessions. Later, the squad was distributed into two teams for a preparatory match under supervision of the national head coach Silhavy and his assistant team.

The Oman team will target to register the third consecutive win under Silhavy in the qualifiers and continue in moving on the winning path to ensure team’s topping in the group and progressing to the next round of the qualifiers. The topper of Group D is Kyrgyzstan team currently by nine points with goal difference than the national team who are positioned in the second place with the same points. Then, the Malaysian team are third with six points and Chinese Taipei are last with no points.
