In an atmosphere filled with excitement and anticipation, the amateur league draw ceremony was held on Thursday night in the main hall of Al Kamil Wal Wafi Club. This competition includes community teams affiliated with sports clubs in the wilayat. The competition takes place in three stages -- the first at the club level, followed by the second level over the governorate clubs and concludes with the third level over the Sultanate of Oman.
The draw for the first level was attended by followers and fans of the community teams and representatives of the eight participating community teams: Al Nasoor, Shabab Al Wafi, Al ittihad, Al Hilal, Al Shabab, Hadri Bilad, Al Mansoor and Al Jazira. The Al Maamoura team withdrew from the tournament for its own reasons.
The draw began with an explanation by the club's organising committee of the rules and conditions and answering questions and issues raised by the attendees. The committee clarified that the competing teams would play in a single-round group system, with the first and second from each group advancing. The emerging teams will play in the usual scissors system of one match, and the winner of the match will advance to the final match.
Additionally, teams will be allowed to substitute five players throughout the match in three intervals, provided they keep three players born between 2003-2007, who can only be substituted by players of the same age group. Players born in 2008-2009, youth national team and senior national team players are not allowed. Other conditions were set by the organising committee to regulate the tournament, in addition to the Amateur League competition regulations set by the Oman Football Association.
The draw was well organised, dividing the teams into two groups based on the draw to ensure fairness and transparency. Group A included four teams that are Al Jazira, Hadri Bilad, Al Mansoor and Al Ittihad, while Group B included the other four teams that are Al Hilal, Shabab Al Wafi, Al Nasoor and Al Shabab. The first matches in the tournament will start on June 14, with the match between Al Jazira and Hadri Bilad at 5 pm and the match between Al Mansoor and Al Ittihad at 9 pm. All matches will be held at the Al Kamil Wal Wafi Sports Club stadium.
Ali Mohammed al Hashimi, vice-president of the organising committee of the Amateur League at the Al Kamil Wal Wafi Club, said that the participating teams were distributed based on their previous results. This system was agreed upon with the teams in past years.
Shabab Al Wafi were the champions and Al Jazira were the runner-ups, placing them in the top tier. Al Nasoor and Hadri Bilad, who reached the semifinals, were placed in the same tier. The third tier included Al Shabab and Al Maamoura, but as Al Maamoura withdrew from the tournament, Al Mansoor replaced them.
The tournament is expected to witness exciting matches and intense competitions, aiming for the best results and winning the championship title. This tournament will also contribute to enhancing communication among the youth members of the sports community in the wilayat.
