Manama: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Information(MoI) and a number of private radio stations, won 16 awards at the 16th Gulf Radio and Television Festival in Manama on Friday.
MoI's Ain platform and House of Wonders documentary produced by OmanTV won Golden Sail Awards. Oman Radio also received the Golden Sail in children's and family, and culture categories and Silver Sail for religious programmes.
Oman Television won Golden Sail for “People and Autumn” in culture and Gulf identity, Silver Sail for “A Question of the People of Remembrance” in the religion category, and the Silver Sail in the sports category.
Al Wessal Radio and Hala FM shared Silver Sail for the “Special Guest” programme.bIn the short film competition, Jassim al Battashi and Abdullah al Battashi won Silver Sail.
The Gulf Radio and Television Festival honoured late journalist Abdullah bin Said al Shuaili of Oman TV, artist Ahmed bin Said al Azki and sports broadcaster Younis bin Mohammed al Fahdi.
This year's Gulf Radio and Television Festival featured a competition of 360 entries, including 80 drama works. The three-day festival, under the slogan “Our Media, Our Identity”, was organised by the Bahraini Ministry of Information in cooperation with Gulf Radio and Television. The Ministry of Information's pavilion featured various programmes of state media.
