Muscat: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) highlighted a positive economic outlook for Oman during its annual general assembly meeting on Wednesday. The Chamber’s 2023 annual report showcased improvements in key economic and financial indicators. The meeting also emphasized the OCCI's commitment to strengthening the private sector and fostering a more favorable business environment.


The OCCI's financial statements revealed a significant improvement compared to 2022. Non-current assets increased by 21.2%, while surplus and reserves rose by 9.8%. Furthermore, the OCCI reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the private sector. This focus includes anticipating challenges and proposing solutions, acting as a voice for the sector with relevant authorities, and actively improving the business environment.

In line with Oman Vision 2040, the OCCI announced several new strategic initiatives aimed at: Enhancing the business environment; Supporting economic diversification; Developing Oman's governorates, and Improving the OCCI's internal work environment. These initiatives include the establishment of a Center for Economic Studies and Research, a Scientific Institution for Entrepreneurship and Future Jobs, and a Social Investment Center.


The meeting also reviewed the OCCI's key accomplishments from the past year. These achievements included organizing workshops and events to improve the business environment, revising laws and regulations related to economic activity, strengthening Oman's position as an attractive investment destination, and launching the Omani Financial Manager Programme.


The OCCI Chairman reiterated the organization's unwavering commitment to supporting the private sector and its role in achieving Oman Vision 2040. He emphasized the OCCI's continued efforts to enhance the business environment, attract investments, and create new job opportunities for Omani youth.
