Muscat: The Amateur League 2024, organised by Al Wahda Club, kicked off on Saturday under the logo 'Support Your Team', the league witness participation of 12 teams competing in a knockout system. The opening matches witnessed fierce competition between the teams.
The league started on Saturday with a clash between Al Hiddah and Al Bandar Al Jadid teams, the match ended with 1-1 draw in regulation time, while Samir al Sunaidy scoring Al Bandar Al Jadid's goal in the 7th minute and Bassam al Makhini equalising for Al Hiddah in the 23rd minute. In the penalty shootout, Al Hiddah team advanced. In the second match Al Qabas team defeated Shabab Al Suwaih with a score of 1-0, thanks to Ahmed Khadem's goal, to qualify to the next round.
On Sunday, an exciting match took place between Al Ittihad Al Gharbi and Al Dhahir teams, ending in a 1-0 victory for Al Dhahir with a goal scored by Khalid al Alawi. The second clash bring Al Jawabi team with Al Khuwaimah team in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Fahd al Zarai scored for Al Khuwaimah, while Rashid al Alawi equalised for Al Jawabi, The two teams went into a penalty shootout, which was decided in favour of Al Jawabi.
On the third day of matches, Shabab Al Ashkharah team managed to defeat Al Falaj team with a score of 2-0, goals from Yasser al Jaafari and Ahmed al Jaafari. The first round concluded with the Al Hayrah team's victory over the Sih Al Sindi team with a score of 1-0, scored by Hamad al Maqhooshi.
