Oman Beach Volleyball spikers impress in Jordan

Muscat: Omani duos from team (B), Mazin al Hashmi and Hood al Jalboubi emerged champions in the 29th edition of the Arabian Beach Volleyball Championship after they defeated their teammates comprised from Ahmed al Hosni and Haitham al Shraiqi from Oman team (A) 2-1 (15-11, 18-21, 21-17) in the final summit clash on Monday in Amman city, Jordan.


The victorious of Omani pair secured their spot in the finals by defeating the Qatari team 2-0 in the semifinals. Meanwhile, the other Omani team also advanced to the semifinals with a 2-0 victory over the Lebanese team.


Oman's top beach volleyball players from both Team A and Team B delivered an outstanding performances throughout the tournament. Ahmed al Hosni and Haitham al Shraiqi (Team A) advanced to the quarterfinals after topping their group with 2-0 victories over Lebanon (A), Bahrain (A), and Saudi Arabia (B). Team B, featuring Mazin al Hashmi and Hood al Jalboubi, managed to earn their quarters ticket with a 2-0 win against Saudi Arabia (A), a 2-1 victory over Jordan, and a 2-0 triumph against Qatar (B).

The Arabian triumph was the second accomplishment for the national team spikers as they had impressed as well in the 2nd edition of the West Asian beach Volleyball Championship which was concluded recently. Oman team (B) comprised from Mazin al Hashmi and Hood al Jalboubi lifted the title of the West Asian following their victorious against Oman’s duo comprised from Ahmed al Hosni and Haitham al Shraiqi 2-0 in the concluding match last week. The Omani beach volleyball team, coached by national coach Bader al Subhi, has demonstrated exceptional technical skills and the ability to compete at the highest levels in Asia.


Eng Ibrahim al Maqbali, Chairman of the Oman Volleyball Association (OVA), congratulated the players and the head coach for their accomplishment. "I am proud of this historic achievement. This success is the result of disciplined and coordinated efforts between OVA and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth," he stated.
