Amman: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Thursday returned home from Jordan after concluding a two-day state visit.

During the visit, HM the Sultan held a meeting with King of Jordan, at His Majesty’s residency in Nadwa Palace in the capital city, Amman. They exchange cordial conversations on the advanced relations binding the two countries.

The two countries issued a joint statement.

The two leaders stress the importance of continuing to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields, in addition to proceeding with the implementation of the agreements, memorandums of understanding, and executive programs signed between the two countries, and work to translate it into practical steps that reflect positively on the interests of the two brotherly countries, in addition to intensifying communication and exchanging visits between the various concerned parties in the two countries, in order to explore and follow up on more cooperation opportunities and push them to greater and more comprehensive horizons.

The two leaders reaffirm the centrality of the Palestinian issue, and the necessity of reaching a just solution to it that ends the occupation and fulfills all the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, welcoming the decisions of Norway, Ireland and Spain to recognize the Palestinian state, which is an important and essential step to confirm that the path to peace is a solution. The two states, which embody the independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, are the only way to achieve just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.

Their Majesties discussed developments in the aggressive war in Gaza, stressing the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop it, and for the Security Council to take a decision imposing an immediate ceasefire, protecting civilians, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid by all possible means, and preventing further escalation.

The two leaders stress the necessity of continuing to provide the necessary support to the Palestinian Refugee Relief and Works Agency “UNRWA” in order to enable it to carry out its pivotal and indispensable role in accordance with its UN mandate, expressing at the same time their rejection of everything that leads to the expansion of the war regionally, and their condemnation and warning.

Their Majesties express their rejection of attempts to separate Gaza Strip from the occupied West Bank, as they are an extension of the Palestinian state, and attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands, warning of the continuation of dangerous escalatory Israeli measures in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, and of the escalation of attacks. Terrorist settlers attack Palestinians and humanitarian aid convoys.

The two leaders stress the necessity of preserving the existing historical and legal situation in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Gaza, as His Majesty the Sultan, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of his brother, His Majesty the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in caring for the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and preserving Its historical identity and the role of the Department of Endowments of Jerusalem and the Affairs of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque of the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments, Affairs and Islamic Sanctities, as the body authorized to manage the affairs of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque / the Holy Mosque, a place of worship exclusively for Muslims.
