His Majesty arrives in Jordan

Amman: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Wednesday on a two-day state visit. King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan led the welcoming party for His Majesty the Sultan. The Jordanian Monarch received His Majesty at the foot of the ramp in Marka Airport in Amman, wishing him a pleasant stay in Jordan.

His Majesty the Sultan was accorded an official reception upon his arrival in Jordan. When the Royal Airplane (Nizwa) entered the Jordanian airspace, it was escorted by a squadron from the Royal Jordanian Air Force, until its arrival at Marka Airport, in a manifestation of warm welcome. As soon as His Majesty the Sultan descended from the Royal Airplane, a choir performed military martials, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute to His Majesty the Sultan. After the King of Jordan received His Majesty the Sultan, the two leaders headed to the airport square, passing between two rows of honorary guards from Jordan Royal Guard.




Then, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with senior members of the welcoming party, who were: Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein (Head of the Mission of Honour that accompanies His Majesty the Sultan), Prince Hashim bin Al Hussein, Prince Mired bin Raad, Dr Bisher al Khasawneh, Prime Minister of Jordan, Faisal al Fayiz, President of the Jordanian Senate, Ahmed al Safadi, Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, Mohammad Ghazo, Chief of the Supreme Judicial Council, Mohamed al Mahadin, President of the Constitutional Court, Yousef Issawi, Chief of the Royal Court, Maj Gen Yousef al Hunaiti, Army Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj Gen Ahmad Husni, Chief of the General Intelligence Department, Dr Khalid Touqan, Special Advisor to the King, Jaafar Hassan, Director of the King’s Office, Kanaan Balawi, Advisor of the King for Tribal Affairs and Mohammad Karaki, Secretary General of the Royal Hashemite Court.

After that, His Majesty the Sultan, accompanied by the King of Jordan, boarded the motorcade that took them over to Basman Palace in the capital city, Amman. As the motorcade exited the airport gate, a group of children that had lined on the two sides of the road leading to the palace, waved the Omani and Jordanian flags in a manner that embodied the special bonds between the Sultanate of Oman and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

As soon as the motorcade entered Basman Palace, a convoy of red vehicles surrounded the main car boarded by the two monarchs, in re-enactment of a Jordanian Royal tradition that reflects warm welcome for the special guest of Jordan.


After that, a group of Royal Guard cavaliers surrounded the motorcade in manifestation of warm welcome and celebration of His Majesty the Sultan’s arrival in Jordan. The streets of the capital, Amman, were adorned with the flags of the Sultanate of Oman and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, board signs were erected and a number of Jordanian students and citizens lined up on the sides of the road, chanting welcoming phrases, expressing their delight at this historic visit of His Majesty the Sultan and the high-ranking official delegation that accompanying him.
