Iranians living in the Sultanate of Oman paid tributes to their Dr Ebrahim Raisi who passed away in a copter crash along with his foreign minister and other officials on Sunday in northwestern Iran.
Mohammad Hoossein Abdussamad, a merchant in Muttrah Souq said he felt so saddened learning the news of his favourite leader who was the contender to succeed supreme leader Khamenei.
"Dr Ebrahim Raisi was not just good but he was too good. He was a leader who attended to people's problems, mended relations with other countries and always worked hard for the well-being of the people," said Abdussamad.
Sherif Abounajad, an oil and gas employee says he couldn't come into terms with the tragedy. "I am very saddened by what happened to our beloved president. Dr Ebrahim Raisi was one of the compassionate and tireless leaders of our beloved country, Iran. I'm still trying to accept the fact that he is no more," he said.
Maryam Dilouh, who had a short stint in Oman as a journalist, feels she had lost someone from her family. "Raisi was one of the leaders who was so popular among the people in Oman as well as outside the country who was behind many life-changing initiatives," she said.
"As president, he cracked down on dissent at home as well as he pursued uncompromising stance in nuclear talks. I sincerely hope that the legacy will continue through his successors," she added.
