Seeb defeated Al Nahdha 2-1 in the 21st round of Omantel League at the Seeb Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Seeb dominated the game from the very first minutes, controlling the ball and maintaining a good spread of players on the field. Seeb had several dangerous opportunities but failed to capitalise on them initially. Seeb finally opened the scoring in the 37th minute through Abdulrahman al Mushaifri.
Seeb doubled their lead in the 43rd minute when a cross from Al Mushaifri deflected off Al Nahdha’s Ahmed al Matrooshi and went into the net. The first half ended with Seeb leading 2-0.
Al Nahdha entered the second half to equalise and managed to reduce the deficit in the 89th minute through Al Mundhir al Alawi. Al Nahdha pressed hard in an attempt to draw level, but Seeb’s defence held firm against all attempts. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Seeb.
With this win, Seeb, who had already been crowned league champions before the match, increased their points tally to 54, while Al Nahdha remained at 40 points.
BAHLA RELEGATED
Bahla were officially relegated to the First Division after a 1-1 draw with Al Shabab at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
Marcelo Gomez scored for Al Shabab in the 28th minute, while Junior equalised for Bahla in the 48th minute.
Al Shabab raised their points tally to 24, placing them ninth, tied on points but behind Ibri and Sur on goal difference. Bahla, with 15 points, were unable to secure their place in the league.
At Ibri Sports Complex, Sohar continued their resurgence with an important 2-1 victory over Ibri.
Sohar scored in the third minute with a brilliant header from foreign player Alexander De Stefano. Ibri struggled to break through Sohar's organised defence and ended the first half trailing 1-0.
Ibri applied strong pressure to equalise, but Sohar’s defence remained resolute. Sohar sealed the victory in the 65th minute with a successful penalty by Mohsen Johar.
Ibri pulled one back through Abdulaziz al Mandhari in the 80th minute.
The match ended with Sohar winning 2-1, raising their points tally to 36 to reach fourth, three points behind third-placed Oman Club. Ibri remained at 24 points, in eighth place, behind Sur on goal difference.
OMAN CLUB NEAR SECOND SPOT
Oman Club continued their impressive form with a 5-2 thrashing of Al Wahda at Sur Sports Complex.
Oman Club started aggressively, scoring early in the third minute through Mohammed al Ghafri. Oman Club kept up the pressure and added a second goal in the 40th minute through Nasser al Rawahi. Oman Club maintained their dominance in the second half, with Nasser al Rawahi scoring two more goals in the 53rd and 67th minutes.
Yazid al Rawahi scored Oman Club's fifth goal in the 70th minute. Al Wahda reduced the deficit late in the game with goals from Al Asim al Harthi in the 74th minute and Aysar al Alawi in the 91st minute.
Oman Club raised their points tally to 39, closing the gap to just one point behind second-placed Al Nahdha, while Al Wahda remained at 13 points, at the bottom of the table.
At Al Saada Sports Complex, Al Nasr defeated Sur 2-0.
Waleed al Musallami scored both goals for Al Nasr in the 62nd and 90th minutes, raising their points tally to 31, placing them fifth, while Sur remained at 24 points, in seventh place.
Elsewhere, Al Rustaq defeated Dhofar 2-1 at Al Rustaq Sports Complex.
Al Rustaq's goals were scored by Mohammed al Ghafri from a penalty kick in the 14th minute and Douglas Da Silva in the 94th minute, while Dhofar's goal was scored by Ali Salem from a penalty kick in the 49th minute.
With this, Rustaq raised their total to 29 points, securing sixth place, while Dhofar remained at 20 points, holding the tenth place.
