The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth took part in the second edition of Empowerment through Art Forum hosted by the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and continues until May 22.
Five Omani female visual artists, Fakhriya al Yahyaiyah, Naila al Maamariyah, Hafsa al Tamimiyah, Nada al Ruwaishidiyah and Maryam al Wahibiyyah, are representing the Sultanate of Oman.
The forum focuses on women’s artworks with the participation of 144 female artists from 40 countries around the world. It includes an exhibition of female fine artists as well as seminars and lectures on modern art and its development, artistic workshops for international female artists.
Naila Al Maamariyah says: “This participation benefits artists as they are able to learn about different experiences in several artistic fields and from different countries. This has a direct impact on artists’ work and provides exchange of experiences amongst artists either by viewing and discussing the paintings displayed or through the workshops held at the forum. I took part in 5 abstract paintings and one painting of the installation art genre. My paintings are a study of the circle shape, be it in the form of a circle or a point or in the form of animals, insects, plants, stones and the like.”
Artist Maryam Al Wahaibiyah said: “ This participation is a great gain for the Omani artist to gain first-hand experiences by mingling with other artists from all over the world and different artistic schools. In addition, the Omani female artists who also belong to different schools of art.”
Artist Nada al Ruwaishidiyah explained that the participation in the forum is aimed at exchanging experiences and seeing what other artists have achieved. The forum brings together an elite group of female artists from different regions and environments. Through my participation in the forum, I intend to convey my experience in drawing and portraying in the modern realistic style to the participating artists.
Artist, Hafsa Al Tamimiyah, pointed out that the presence of the Omani artist in an international art event that brings together international artists will allow them to learn about various experiences, artworks and will lead to a cultural exchange between the artists.
Al Tamimiyah expresses her happiness over the international participation and the opportunity she had to display her artworks to a group of artists, adding that her paintings include portraits with a symbolic contemporary abstract style. — ONA
