Life, usually, brings new challenges every now and then; some are big and others are small. Sometimes, those challenges keep repeating until one learns a lesson. This is life; every dawn comes with different surprises, some of which are pleasing while some are frustrating. However, what really matters is the way we perceive every challenge we come across every single day!
There are days that bring more than a challenge on a single day! Sometimes, there are multiple factors being the reasons behind us getting challenged. Our work environment, day-to-day attitudes, feelings and personalities as well as those with whom we work or live with are creating obstacles in our way. Likewise, all those aspects might possibly be provoking us to get challenges or displeasing experiences.
As hand’s fingers are not all the same so are days of life are not always the same. Yet, it is we who control how we run the show on every single day of life regardless of what happens around us. Being positive and looking at the brighter side of each experience and challenge we come through is the best way of overcoming the disappointing or unpleasant moments. Although it is not often easy to manage our reaction, attitudes and feelings, but we can try our best to enjoy every moment of life.
What we need is just to have some patience, so we could manage our tensions, frustrations and disappointments. Unfortunately, whenever we get unexpectedly shocked or displeased, we get frustrated and our minds focus on the negative side of that certain experience. Why this happens though we have not given ourselves the chance or time to investigate or even think of what happened or what was the motive behind it.
This is not a general assumption of our reaction to every incident; rather it is a common observation. Perhaps, this is what happens initially with some of us, but everyone has a different way of perceiving things and experiences around them. Everyone gets affected either emotionally or behaviourlly by what happens. However, our reactions differ depending on the challenges we face, time, condition and environment we are in.
Accordingly, we should all try to act differently when being challenged. We should be fair with ourselves by thinking of fully understanding what happens and what are the possible reasons behind it? Then, one can think of the potential solutions for that particular challenge. Seeking support from others could be another way of getting things out of one’s mind. Thus, in some cases, one might need to get a proper consultation and advice from trusted ones.
More important is that whenever we come across a challenge, we should try to be positive and look at the positive side of the challenge. Helen Keller, an American lecturer and creative author, said: “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”
Likewise, one should dig for an opportunity that could possibly emerge out of what has happened! One needs to turn obstacles into opportunities and problems into possibilities. As Alexander Graham Bell said, “When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.”
Opportunities rarely knock one’s door until they are ready to welcome it, or the right time comes. However, few people have ever been really ready without receiving a call for opportunity. That is why challenges should be turned into learning lessons and disabilities should be turned into abilities that bring new opportunities. Sometimes, we are tested not to show our weaknesses, but to discover our strengths.
