The 10th edition of the Nusuk exhibition, which aims to teach the rituals of Haj in addition to introducing the tasks of the Omani Haj Mission and the services it provides in the holy lands, was held under the auspices of Dr Fatima bint Mohammed al Ajmiyah, Executive President for Oman Medical Specialty Board, at the lecture hall of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, in Bausher on Tuesday.
The Nusuk exhibition showcased the various facets of the holy ritual, a prerogative for a Muslim, delved deep into the activities that happen at the holy land and the etiquettes to be followed round the clock during the pilgrimage.
Speaking to the Observer, a representatives from the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, said that the first official Omani pilgrimage mission was formed in 1972 by a Royal order from late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and it was headed by Shaikh Sulaiman bin Mohammed al Salmi, who was Director of Governors’ Affairs at the Ministry of Interior and Justice at the time.
The Haj Mission, which comprises representatives from the Ministry, Department of Fatwa, Administrative and Financial sections, ROP, Oman Scouts, media, medical, and various Haj companies, will depart Oman during the first week of June.
The structure of the Haj Mission comprises the head of the mission, his deputy and his adviser. Together, the team will draw up general policies for the work entrusted to the mission, and supervise all the services and care that must be provided to the pilgrims.
Sultan al Hinai, a representative of the ministry, said that the first flight carrying pilgrims from the Sultanate of Oman will leave Muscat during the first week of June and this will be followed by regular flights carrying other pilgrims in the following days.
