MUSCAT: Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) participated in the 43rd General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asian, which was held on Saturday, in the Thailand capital, Bangkok, with the participation of 45 Asian National Olympic Committees. OOC was represented at the meeting by Taha bin Sulaiman al Kishri, OOC Secretary-General, Saif bin Spaa al Rashidi, a member of the Board of Directors, and Mohammed al Rahbi, OOC Executive Director.
A series of constitutional reforms were voted on the meeting, aligning with the Olympic Charter of IOC while maintaining the independence and Asian characteristics of the Olympic Council of Asian. Thus, NOCs approved all amendments to the system in light of the presented proposals. Additionally, the Council honoured several sports figures who have rendered distinguished services to Asian sports. Furthermore, praise was given during the meeting to the success of Hangzhou, China, in organising the 19th Asian Games in 2023, distinguished in all aspects, and the organising committee received recognition from the Olympic Council of Asian.
The meeting witnessed presentations from organising committees for upcoming Asian sports events, as well as a review of the latest developments related to hosting the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in November of this year in Bangkok and Chonburi, and the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, in February 2025, and the Asian Youth Games to be held in September 2025 in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent. In addition to the Asian Games to be hosted by Nagoya, Japan, in 2026. Before the end of the meeting, financial reports and the report of the financial auditors were reviewed, and all matters presented at the meeting were approved.
