Muscat: Following reports of food poisoning incidents associated with "BON TUM" mayonnaise, the Food Safety and Quality Center (FSQC) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in the Sultanate of Oman has confirmed that the product is exclusively distributed within the country of origin.
After contamination was detected in the mayonnaise due to the presence of "Clostridium botulinum" bacteria, the FSQC stated that necessary measures will be implemented to prevent its entry through border crossings.
In an online statement, the FSQC emphasized, “In our commitment to ensuring consumer safety, the center reaffirms that the product is only available in its country of origin, and it takes all necessary precautions to prevent its importation into the country.”
Furthermore, the FSQC announced its collaboration with municipal authorities across all governorates and the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) to ensure that markets remain free of BON TUM mayonnaise. Hence, consumers are urged to refrain from purchasing the product until further notice.
