ALGERIA: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister and Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, today held a session of political talks within the framework of the official visit made by the former to Algeria.
The two sides stressed the importance of working together to serve their common interests. They discussed means of coordination ahead of the Omani-Algerian Joint Committee’s next session scheduled to be held this year in Algeria.
They also exchanged views about regional and international issues of common concern, as well as means of enhancing bilateral cooperation to address the current challenges.
The two ministers expressed their countries' support for the efforts being exerted to stop the escalation and reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip towards the termination of all acts of violence. They stressed the need to reach an accord to this effect to avert further bloodshed among civilians, facilitate the delivery of relief aid to the population in Gaza, provide proper conditions for the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes and secure the release of the detainees and prisoners.
The two sides also underlined the importance of resorting to the rules of international law. They urged the international community to fulfil its responsibilities by recognising the State of Palestine and to promote efforts to convene an international peace conference in response to the will of the international community. They laid emphasis on implementing the Two-State Solution and ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. — ONA
