DUBAI: Dhofar khareef will last for 90 days from June 20 and to September 20 and this year the focus will be on international events, including the First Dhofar International Theatre Festival.


This was revealed at a press conference here on Monday by by Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality.


He said one of the most important developments is that the Dhofar Municipality will begin rotating events at its sites rather than repeat events for more than two years, noting that Atteen Square will continue to take centre-stage for tourism events.


The Sultanate of Oman is taking part in the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, the leading global event for the travel and tourism sector, which kicked off earlier in the day under the theme “Empowering Innovation — Transforming Travel through Entrepreneurship”. The four-day event is organised in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.


Oman’s delegation to the travel mart is headed by Azzan bin Qassim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, and the country is represented at the event by 36 establishments from the government and private sectors, including small and medium enterprises.


Al Busaidy told reporters that Oman’s participation is aimed at exploring the most prominent developments in the field of travel and tourism. The event offers an opportunity to meet representatives of the largest number of international companies and institutions and seek chances of cooperation with them with the aim of increasing the number of tourists to Oman.


The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at the exhibition hosts Dhofar Municipality, the Arab Tourism Organisation, Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran), Oman Airports Company and the national travel operator Visit Oman. It will also showcase products from Oman Botanical Garden, Oman Across Ages Museum, the National Museum, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Musandam Governorate, and a number of tourism and hotel companies and establishments. — ONA
