Muscat: Oman under-19 football team concluded recently their short abroad camp in Bahrain. The five-day gathering in Manama city featured two friendly matches against the hosts Bahrain team as the first match ended in favour of Bahrain team at 2-0 while both teams played out a goalless draw in the second match.
This camp shaped the players readiness for the forthcoming events as the external camp was organised for a target of ensuring better preparation for the junior Red Warriors in the forthcoming assignments including the West Asian Championship which will be held in Saudi Arabia in the middle of this year. Then, the team will take part in the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers in September, while the finals of 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place in February 2025.
Despite the loss in the first game against Bahrain and the draw in the following match, both games gave better technical analysis for the coaching staff as they are finalising the starting list of the team for the next participation. Bahrain’s camp was the second abroad camp for the team under supervision of coach Ahmed al Alawi as they had a camp in Kuwait city last month. The external camps positioned the players in better mood and status to get ready for the next official events.
Oman team had played two games against the hosts in Kuwait. Oman won the first match 3-1 and the second match 1-0. The junior Red Warriors goals were netted in the opening match by Masoud al Bahri, Fahad al Mukhaini and Al Hussain al Qasmi, while Abdullah Faris scored for Kuwait. Al Qasmi scored the only goal in the second match.
