Self-motivation turbo-charges performance

Self-motivation is the internal drive that leads us to take action towards a goal. It keeps us moving forward, even when we don't want to. Motivation ‘is the ability to initiate and persist at a task.’

We can also say that to describe a person’s reason to do a particular thing/task can be linked to all facets of life. Self-motivation in sport would explain why someone does sport. A person may do sport due to the physical benefits, due to which it makes you a healthier person or the social benefits in that it helps you meet new friends.

Self-motivation is a very important factor in a person’s life because it helps him or her see things in a positive way. In fact it is the strong tool to one can use to get further in life. What motivates oneself is very individual to a person, and everyone has their own personal reasons for participating in sports. Start with small and simple goals/objective, you are giving yourself the chance to attain bigger things ahead.

It is also important to keep track of the progress.

Many sportspersons train for years to get to a high standard which is made possible by immense personal motivation to keep them going. If an athlete does have this characteristic they do not need outside sources of motivation as in a coach or a group of friends, they shall stay motivated on their own. One can stay self- motivated by continue to set new goals, time to time reviewing their progress, keeping one positive, and surrounding oneself with positive people.

Motivation plays a key role in guiding, initiating and helps to maintain the goal oriented behavior. Self-motivated individuals will tend to put longer hours at work to become and prove a leader I personally state that one wants to perform at a higher level he or she must start the process of growing and developing as a sportsperson. One must be mentally and physically willing to face the challenges of fatigue, pain, boredom, and repeated training. Self-motivated person will always find a way to accomplish the task. These people do not need other people’s word of encouragement in performing or accepting a challenging task.

The goals must not be big or long term they can be small and empowering. One needs the right mindset to be motivated. Motivation becomes the contributor in their performance and achievement. Self- motivation plays a vital role in building a foundation in making you perform and compete at higher level. Motivation will not only help a sportsperson in getting the starting position or a feel of achievement but it also helps him/her to reach their potentiality.

One should always believe in self and ensure that nothing stops him/her in the road of success. Self- motivation also plays a salient role in enhancing the performance level of an athlete, but plays a role in the psychological and physiological component as well. In fact motivation is learned by or through experience.

In simple words it is the key to succeed the goals and dreams. A self- motivated person tries and strives to come out of his/her comfort zone to achieve the desire goal. The internal force of the motivation drives the person to attain their goals against all odds which would stand in their way.

Self- motivation is the dynamic engine that drives a person to achieve his goals, and to overcome obstacles.

Self-motivation comes a long way and should always be driving force for an individual. Self- motivation plays a crucial role in ones achievement by employing firmness, proper and effective time management, fostering suppleness and promoting a growth mindset.

Lastly, one should not afraid of helping or supporting others and also seeking the same for self. The consistency of the motivation depends on the mutual success.

I want to conclude with a quote,"Push yourself because no one else is going to do that for you".
