MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived in the United Arab Emirates on a two-day 'state' visit, and at the forefront of receiving His Majesty the Sultan upon his arrival at the presidential airport in Abu Dhabi was Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.
Upon its entry into UAE airspace, the plane carrying His Majesty the Sultan was accompanied by UAE military aircraft led by the squadron commander.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan was at the forefront of receiving His Majesty the Sultan and the accompanying delegation upon their arrival at the Presidential Airport in Abu Dhabi.
During a short break in the VIP hall, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan and His Majesty the Sultan exchanged friendly conversations that underscored the strength of the fraternal relations.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held an official session of talks at Qasr Al Watan (Palace of the Nation) in Abu Dhabi.
Earlier, His Majesty the Sultan began a state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday.
A statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court to this effect reads as follows: "In affirmation of the deep-rooted and historical relations binding the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will go on a state visit to the UAE with effect from Monday, during which he will meet Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. The visit stems from the fraternal bonds and good neighborliness between Oman and the UAE. It also reflects the keenness of the two countries' leaderships to enhance joint ties and push them towards wider horizons."
During the visit, His Majesty the Sultan will be accompanied by a high-ranking official delegation.
The deep-rooted historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates have their special character and are based on brotherhood and good neighborliness.
The fraternal relations are considered a model for the region and are characterised by features that place them in the rank of special distinguished ties at various levels, in addition to economic and trade partnerships between them based on constructive cooperation, investment, and exchange of knowledge and expertise in multiple fields.
The nature of the relationship between the Emirati and Omani peoples is characterised by being familial, as the two countries have deep historical relations, and the most prominent pillars of this relationship are religion, language, lineage, the single roots of tribes and families, neighbours with long common borders, a common history and a unity of interests.
These relations are not limited to areas of common interest, but they have always been relations of a special nature, distinguished by sincere brotherhood, rapprochement, and geographical overlap that brings the two countries together, based on good neighbourliness and close social and family ties, which enjoy great importance among the two brotherly peoples and are supported by ties of history and common Islamic, Arab, and Gulf affiliation.
