Muscat: The second edition of Musandam Carnival at Bassa Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of Oman, in the Wilayat of Khasab, features a wide and diverse range of activities and entertainment programmes targeting all segments of society. The four-day festival, which started on Thursday, will conclude on Sunday.
The carnival is organised by the Musandam Governor’s Office in cooperation with the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group). A number of government and private agencies are taking part in the event, which aims to promote Musandam Governorate as an attractive and preferred tourist destination for families by enhancing diverse tourism experiences and providing opportunities for individuals and families to enjoy a range of recreational activities, in addition to involving and supporting the local community.
Those working to organise the carnival seek to celebrate the heritage and beauty of Musandam Governorate, as it is rich in diverse culture, unique folk arts, customs and traditions, in addition to highlighting its natural beauty of beaches and mountains. It will be held at Bassa Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Sultanate of Oman.
Saif bin Ahmed al Dhahouri, a member of the main committee for the Musandam winter season in the Musandam Governor’s Office, said: “The governorate seeks to strengthen its efforts to attract more tourists from all over the world by holding various events and activities that suit all tastes and categories. This carnival is an extension of the activities accompanying the Musandam winter season and a qualitative addition to the tourism movement witnessed by the governorate. Through it, we also seek to introduce the tourism components of the governorate and highlight the diverse tourism and cultural activities that characterise the governorate. We also hope that it will be an addition and a recreational and touristic outlet for citizens, residents and visitors."
Mohammed bin Murtada al Issa, Head of the Planning and Corporate Communications Unit at Omran Group, said: “Organising this festival comes in the context of Omran Group’s commitment to enhance various tourist destinations by hosting diverse cultural, heritage and sporting events that attract visitors from various categories. The organisation of the carnival also reflects the group’s keenness to achieve social responsibility by creating business opportunities for small enterprises and home-based businesses.”
Al Issa added that the Musandam Carnival is expected to witness a wide attendance from the people of the governorate, local visitors and international tourists. The entry will be free throughout the duration of the carnival, which will open its doors to visitors from 4 pm until 12 am.
