Muscat: As the nation prepares for the Eid holidays, the Civil Defense Ambulance Authority has urged the public to take all cautions to keep it a safe Eid Holiday.
The Authority stated that to avoid sudden run-over accidents, make sure that there are no people, especially children, near the perimeter of the vehicle.
Monitoring children during the holidays is a priority especially while they are swimming in home pools to prevent cases of drowning.
To avoid fire hazards they stated, “Avoid keeping flammable materials inside your vehicle.
It is an important exercise for familiy members to have complete awareness of home safety, providing safety and security items and tools along with following guidelines and instructions. “All of these are preventive measures that protect you and your family from potential accidents and injuries,” stated the Aithority.
As part of safety procedures and means it is important to equip the home with a suitable fire extinguisher, a first aid bag, install a gas leakage sensor, and practice dealing with minor accidents when they occur, install a smoke sensor and most importantly identify emergency exits.
The Oman Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority has also stressed an emphasis on sunstroke symptoms with their campaign that looks at Hypertension Extreme fatigue, fainting, nerve spasms and headache.
The symptoms to look out for are when the temperature rises to more than 40 degrees Celsius, irregular pulse, skin redness and perspiration.
For safety reasons the Authority has requested the public to avoid exposure to direct sunlight as it may lead to heat stroke or heat exhaustion during the fasting period.
