Muscat: As part of its ongoing efforts to regulate the activities of street vendors, the Muscat Municipality has announced a new location, instead of Al Mouj Street on Seeb Beach,
for licensed food truck owners.
The unlicensed food truck owners will get two months to correct their situation and get a permit.
The new location will be equipped with the necessary services, with cleaning workers permanently allocated to ensure a healthy environment, as well as waste containers and direct transportation of waste.
A health control inspector will also be provided to visit the site periodically to ensure that appropriate procedures are followed in dealing with food, meat, and other
materials.
The new location is situated near the Seeb market and the waterfront, with the availability of more than 180 parking spaces.
The objective of the project is to have mobile vendors in one integrated place, developing the area while maintaining a civilized sense of mobile vending activities.
* Facilitating health control over food quality.
* Protecting residential sites from harmful grilling fumes.
* Reinforcing mobile vending businesses.
* Reducing traffic congestion in the area. Improving the overall aesthetic value.
* Organizing entrances and exits away from residential areas.
* The grilling vans will provide chairs and tables, garbage containers, and lighting poles.
