During the sacred month of Ramadhan, Muslims around the world engage in acts of compassion and generosity, with charity drives serving as a cornerstone of this observance. These initiatives hold profound importance for individuals and communities alike, embodying the essence of Ramadhan’s spiritual teachings.
At its core, Ramadhan is a time for self-reflection, discipline, and heightened spirituality. Through charity, Muslims seek to purify their wealth and souls, aligning their actions with the values of empathy and compassion espoused by Islam.
Central to the significance of charity drives during Ramadhan is the fulfillment of Zakat, one of the Five Pillars of Islam. This obligation to give a portion of one’s wealth to those in need is emphasized during Ramadhan, prompting many to contribute to organized charity efforts as a means of fulfilling this religious duty.
Moreover, charity drives during Ramadhan foster a sense of solidarity and community among Muslims. These initiatives provide an opportunity for individuals to come together, support one another, and address the needs of the less fortunate, embodying the spirit of unity that defines the Ramadhan experience.
In addressing economic disparities, charity drives play a vital role in bridging the gap between the affluent and the marginalized. By providing essential support to those in need, these initiatives help ensure that all members of the community can partake in the blessings of Ramadhan, regardless of their economic circumstances.
Furthermore, Muslims believe that good deeds performed during Ramadhan are multiplied in reward. By participating in charity drives, individuals seek to maximize the spiritual benefits of their actions, enriching both themselves and their communities in the process.
As we are heading to the conclusion of Ramadhan, many individuals are seeking avenues to contribute to society.
The Muttrah Committee highlights the opportunity for benevolent actions as the nation prepares to observe the Holy month of Ramadhan in a few days.
Members of the Muttrah Committee are stationed at town shopping centers, gently reminding shoppers of the less fortunate within our community. What may appear as routine for some can present significant challenges for others. Over time, the Muttrah Committee has identified families in need of assistance.
Abdulzahran al Lawati, representing the Muttrah Committee under the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, spearheads this annual charity drive.
In addition to shopping, individuals have the option to contribute towards Zakat by making direct payments to designated bank accounts.
The committee oversees the distribution of food packages to needy families who are observing fasting rituals.
Contributors can opt to support the provision of food baskets, aiding 350 families throughout the month, with contributions of RO 75 or by participating with one share of RO 10.
“We extend our invitation to all to join us in offering Iftar meals during the fasting period, which will be provided in mosques. The Muttrah Committee is responsible for preparations spanning from Riyam Park to the Sarooj area. The public can break their fasts within the mosques,” Al Lawati explained.
Contributions totaling RO 1,100 will provide for 2,000 individuals breaking their fasts in mosques following the call to prayer. The Muttrah Committee oversees activities from Riyam Park to Al Sarooj area, ensuring the well-being of the community.
