MUSCAT: It was another special season for Seeb spikers as they repeated last year's accomplishment by claiming three titles this season including the recent triumph at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Shield volleyball, Super Cup, and the first league.
Earlier last week, Seeb players impressed as they managed to defeat Al Salam 3-1 in a thrilling final clash of the Ministry’s Shield volleyball at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher to claim another title.
Jamal al Mamari, Head coach of Seeb Club, credited the continuous support of Seeb’s board directors represented by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said and the board members for making another impressive season by winning three titles.
“The great interest and continuous help from the Chairman of the club HH Sayyid Shihab and his son HH Sayyid Malik bin Shihab al Said as well as the board members were behind the success of the team during the previous years. There was a clear outlining plan for each season in coordination with the technical staff to achieve all domestic competitions and also to compete at the International level.”
There was also a keen focus from the club’s board on maintaining technical and administrative staff stability throughout the last five years. All local competitions were achieved especially in the last two seasons through achieving historic accomplishments including the Super Cup, the League, and the Ministry Shield. Besides that, the club had signed the right players based on the recommendation of the technical staff and the board's commitment to renewing the contracts of some local and expatriate players each season.
Moreover, the club’s loyal fans delivered remarkable support for the team over the past five seasons,” he added in an exclusive remark to the Observer.
Responding to an inquiry on the plans for Seeb to compete at the board level, he said: “As champions of the league and the Ministry’s shield, we are expecting to represent the Sultanate of Oman in different Gulf and Arabian competition events. In the previous season, Seeb Club had managed to earn the silver medal at the Arabian level.”
”Our target this season is to vie for the gold medal. We understand the difficulty of accomplishing this target but I am confident with the required support from the club and player’s commitment we can reach this goal,” he added.
“Seeb consists of a pool of great volleyball players for all positions. I would like to thank all the team squad for their outstanding show. For the future requirement, we may need to upgrade the level of some professional players in some specific positions. This will be discussed with the club’s board level ahead of the new season start. Moreover, the team’s plan and requirement of the domestic and external camps besides the friendly matches will be discussed with the board level too,” clarified the national experienced coach.
Coach Jamal concluded his remarks with some recommendations to the Oman Volleyball Association (OVA). “I suggest that the first-placed team in the qualifiers stage should get some preference during the finals. In the current system, the topper of the qualifiers will advance to the final in the semis. We hope the system will change to allow the clubs to play more games,” he mentioned.
