Many international organisations pretend to care for human rights and some media institutions are ranting about the liberal thoughts fundamentally based on the idea of human rights.
Notwithstanding, they have absolutely lost credibility after their shameful silence and sometimes connivance with the massacres committed by the Zionist entity in the Gaza Strip.
However, it is crucial to respond to all reports issued by these rights organisations or media houses to refute their allegations and expose their lies and utilisation of double standards.
No-one is still unaware of that and even the Western peoples are experiencing a new state of awareness outside the media-made alienation zone in which they lived for ages.
Among the reasons why we should react to these reports is that other organisations that measure political, economic and human rights indicators rely on such reports especially when they go unanswered.
The media misinformation or even disinformation arising from false information received by some organisations for profit purposes or political goals, draw a distorted picture of the reality which is always totally different from that stereotypical image that some institutions attempt to create. Plato’s city exists only in papers while real life is teeming with challenges and violations that need to be controlled by the laws and constant oversight to limit transgressions and errors to the minimum level possible.
Even so, the absence of utopia or idealism from the reality of the world at any time does not mean violating the values and principles that could, at the very least, put this world on the path to idealism.What is happening today in the world in terms of the erosion or complete collapse of all values, including values of professionalism, is a call to the whole world to declare a state of extreme danger. A world devoid of principles and values is completely meaningless, chaotic and devastated.
If the values and principles are essential for the world to continue, then the values of professionalism, including media professionalism, are essential and their absence poses a danger to the entire world as every single word may be equal to life or peace or, at the same time, they may be equal to war and destruction.
Above all, lanterns began lighting in many countries despite remnants of darkness somewhere. These lamps are not under the control of nationalist or ideological classifications or even the idea of North, South, East and West, but rather they are the result of convictions, principles and values that societies insist on preserving and consolidating.
What pleases us in the Sultanate of Oman is that the Omani society is one with firmly-rooted values and has maintained its Islamic principles from which it sets off on the paths of the future. The laws are there to protect these values and principles and preserve them from any attempts to tamper with or distort them.
Regarding the issue of human rights, the Sultanate of Oman is one among the world countries that respects human rights. This is not a passing structural ruling, but rather a fact that can be construed deeply when we understand the meaning of human rights.
Human rights are basic standards that are indispensable for a person to live in dignity.
These rights include the right to life, the right to freedom, the right to education, the right to health, the right to proper housing, the right to quality education, as well as the right to live free from discrimination and torture, and the right to get a job.
These rights are guaranteed by the laws applied in the Sultanate of Oman and cannot be bypassed without legal accountability.
These rights are well-established in the Omani society and are part of the values that regulate this society within its social framework.
Owing to the fact that life evolves and becomes more complicated in every new stage, the laws in the Sultanate of Oman continue to develop in order to keep pace with the changes that take place around the world. Still, they are based on the same values and principles that elevate the status of man, preserve his dignity and seek to establish the values of justice and equality among people and protect them, whether citizens or residents, from any attempt to degrade their humanity, dignity or undermine their right to equality.
