The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) organised Entrepreneurship Talk on Tuesday. It discussed an entrepreneur’s journey, experiences and opportunities.

The sessions target officials, decision makers, owners of small and medium enterprises and start-up companies, and owners of student companies, in addition to those wishing to establish their own business projects, and those with inspiring stories and experiences that made them successful.

The sessions aim to enlighten business aspirants about success and failure, encourage them to continue and sustain their projects and initiatives, benefit from the previous experiences of successful entrepreneurs, shed light on the challenges they faced and ways to address them, and provide an open dialogue platform for exchanging ideas.

ASMED is keen to hold direct meetings with entrepreneurs in various governorates to discuss the challenges facing entrepreneurs.

The first session, which was attended by Halima bint Rashid bin Sulaiman al Zariyah, ASMED Chairperson, discussed pioneering experiences in coffee making and coffee cup production. Khalid al Abri, a founding partner of Coffee Fleet Café, made a presentation on specialty coffee and his beginnings of the company along with his partners Khalil al Abri and Hatem al Muzaini. Khalid said 'for any project to succeed it is important one must create opportunities for others and delegating tasks and responsibilities'.

Khalil al Abri spoke about customer experiences and the importance of taking into account all tastes and ways of dealing with them. Hatem al Muzaini focused on the coffee roasting stage, which is the most important element in providing high-quality coffee.

Amal al Dakhri, owner of the Amal Cups Project, spoke about her experience making cups and exporting them to specialised cafes in Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK and USA.

The Authority is organising three sessions during the holy month of Ramadhan. The second session will host inspiring entrepreneurs from different generations in Al Aqr neighbourhood in the Wilayat of Nizwa in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate followed by another session in the Wilayat of Sur in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate.
