Muscat: The joint committee between Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and the Ministry of Education held a meeting under the chairmanship of HH Sayyid Dr Fahad Al Julanda al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in the presence of Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Education Under-secretary at the Ministry of Education in the presence of committee members from both sides.
The committee reviewed a number of topics including following up on the recommendations of the committee’s first meeting as well as new topics proposed by both sides related to enhancing cooperation in the field of studies, scientific research and postgraduate studies. It also discussed the possibility of increasing academic seats in the College of Education at Sultan Qaboos University in educational specializations and in light of the current and future needs for educational jobs and strengthening teaching curricula to enhance the areas of special education and students with learning difficulties.
The committee discussed ways of benefiting from the SQU in examinations for supervisory jobs and school administration positions and reviewed areas of activating the role of the vocational guidance specialist at the Ministry of Education to introduce it as a discipline at the university and to conduct joint courses and seminars to introduce school students to future areas of study at universities in accordance to their talents and tendencies.
Also discussed at the meeting was the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, research and scientific experiments.
