Renowned Omani actor Dr Talib al Balushi will soon be seen in a leading role in a top-notch South Indian movie, which is a collaboration of many award-winning artists. The movie will be released on March 28 in India and the US.
The film, 'Aadujeevitham' (Goat Days), an adaptation of the celebrated novel by the same name by Benyamin and directed by Blessy, stars, acclaimed Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead while Dr Talib is cast opposite him.
Speaking to the Observer from Kochi during its audio launch, Dr. Talib, who is behind the upcoming Omani film ‘Dirty Feet’, said, “Praise be to God, this is my second film in Malayalam and I’m glad to be the first Omani to act in the largest international film. The film is the story of an Indian person traveling to work outside his country to earn his living, and instead of working in an oil company, he becomes a goat herd,” Dr Al Balushi said.
The film began shooting in 2019 and faced many obstacles while shooting in Wadi Rum in Jordan during the pandemic. During one of their schedules in Jordan, as many as 255 artists comprising students, tourists, and business people were stuck in Jordan when the country announced a total lockdown and suggested home quarantine. They were later airlifted in two special planes, thanks to an understanding between the two governments after spending 70 days in quarantine at one stretch.
The film is, by now, a highly anticipated creative work for two Oscar winners, AR Rahman and Resul Pookkutty, who handle the background score and sound effects respectively for the movie, which is co-produced by Blessy himself, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Steven Adams.
