During Ramadhan, there are many initiatives to provide iftar meals to the needy people.

These initiatives help the fasting people or the needy ones to break the fast on the go instead of rushing home to do so. This will help in reducing traffic chaos and accidents as iftar time approaches.

Such initiatives, which are considered a charity and volunteer initiative for men and women, have opened up the horizons of partnership between the institutions supporting the initiative and its beneficiaries. Many institutions and companies provide such meals that come under corporate social responsibility.

A number of charitable societies and volunteer teams are active during the holy month of Ramadhan in raising funds to provide Iftar meals in many public places across where Muslim workers gather.

Some volunteer teams and charitable organisations use social media and popular websites to send invitations to philanthropists to participate in Iftar initiatives.

The Oman Charitable Organisation distributes Ramadhan supplies to many needy families in cooperation with a number of governmental and voluntary institutions. It also distributes food supplies to eligible families according to the lists given by the Ministry of Social Development. The OCO said it will receive Ramadhan donations for 2024.

During the holy month of fasting, providing Iftar is a noble act of compassion. Feeding the poor and needy is an act that bestows many blessings. According to Hadith, a person who provides Iftar to a fasting person will have the same reward (Thawab) as the fasting person.
