Muscat: The Royal Oman Police carried out security raids in a number of governorates to combat crimes and maintain safety of citizens and residents.

Meanwhile, the ROP, represented by the Coast Guard Police Command, in cooperation with the Environment Authority and the concerned authorities, dealt with the damage caused by the commercial boat that ran aground near Al Ghubra Beach in the Wilayat of Baushar in order to avoid pollution, oil spill or any environmental damage.

The ROP, represented by the Directorate-General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation, apprehended five people of Arab nationalities for committing fraud. The defendants created a fake website resembling an official website to dupe victims into providing bank account information in exchange for certain services. The culprits then used the victims’ bank accounts’ information to withdraw from their accounts and invest them in the trading of cryptocurrency.

The Directorate-General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation said it had detected a new fraudulent method targeting young people by using fake job advertisements via SMS to convince victims to carry out certain online transactions after transferring money to the fraudsters.

The North Al Sharqiyah Governorate Police Command, with the support of the Ibra Special Tasks Police Unit, arrested a person of Asian nationality in possession of more than 20 kg of crystal meth. In Dhofar Governorate, the Coast Guard Police arrested four people of an Arab nationality while attempting to smuggle more than 870 packages of khat.
