Muscat - The number of passengers passing through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman increased by 21.6 percent by the end of January 2024, to 1,417,442, from 1,165,556 passengers at the end of January 2023.
As per the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the number of passengers traveling through Muscat International Airport reached 1,290,552 passengers by the end of January, an increase of 22.7 percent.
The number of flights operated during this period increased by 16 percent to 8,756 flights, including 8,090 international flights, and 666 domestic flights.
Indian nationals topped the number of passengers using Muscat International Airport, with 86,234 arriving and 82,807 departing passengers, followed by Bangladesh nationals with 16,388 arriving and 24,877 departing passengers, Pakistan nationals with 23,529 arriving and 25,303 departing passengers.
The number of passengers traveling through Salalah Airport was 120,506, an increase of 14 percent from 809 flights (an increase of 4.5 percent).
The number of international flights through Salalah Airport was 423 with 58,657 passengers, while the number of domestic flights was 386 with 61,849 passengers.
The number of passengers traveling through Sohar Airport was 1,140 (32 flights), while the number of passengers traveling through Duqm Airport was 5,370 passengers (54 flights).
