The Sur Maritime Heritage Festival concluded on Friday due to rains and strong winds. The decision was taken by the organisers after consultations with the National Committee for Emergency Management's subcommittee in the Al Sharqiyah South Governorate to ensure public safety,
The organizing company has been told to withdraw all materials, tools and games equipment from the festival area.
The Maritime Heritage Festival in the Wilayat of Sur in the Al Sharqiyah South Governorate attracted large numbers of visitors and tourists as it included activities such as windsurfing, sailing, fishing competition, symposium, traditional boat race, traditional games and sports, in addition to a kite flying.
Tourists to the wilayat also visited Sunaysila Fort, the old market, the lighthouse, the Al Rayyan Museum, the dhow Factory, the Fateh Al Khair Center, and the archaeological city of Qalhat, among others.
Visitors also enjoyed the food carnival, which allowed visitors to explore most Omani and international dishes, with a focus on fresh seafood, in addition to the activities of the marine heritage village, through which the visitor learned about the maritime heritage of Sur.
